Liturgical Ministries

Ministry Formation
Provincial and Archdiocesan regulations require that 'volunteers' be screened. In our Parish, the Screening Initiative has evolved into Ministry Formation. This group is charged with the task of helping prepare all our ministers in their respective ministry. This includes interviews with each of the ministers. Ministry Formation is also responsible for working with the various Coordinators to schedule workshops and retreats to develop the skills and talents of these ministers.

Ministers of Hospitality
These are the people who meet and greet you as you enter our Worship Space. They lend a helping hand, offer a friendly smile, and ensure that you know that you are welcome in our Community.

Lectors
Lectors proclaim the living word to the Sacred Assembly.

Eucharistic Ministers
There are Eucharistic Ministers at each Mass, offering the bread and wine, the body and blood of Jesus. They also participate at events such as weddings, funerals, daily Mass and other celebrations of the Eucharist.

We also have dedicated ministers who extend our celebration to those parishioners who are unable to worship with us. Our ministers administer Communion to those at Winbourne Park, and at various addresses within our Parish Boundaries.

Children's Liturgy
We offer Children's Liturgy of the Word twice a month at the 10:00 am Sunday Mass for children from Junior Kindergarten through to Grade One. The children are ushered to a specially assisgned children's worship space to encounter the Gospel at their level. They return to the Congregation for the Liturgy of the Eucharist.

Music Ministry
Music is an essential element of any worship, and certainly raises the level of our praise and worship. Each Sunday, liturgy provides our talented parishioners with a great opportunity to participate in the music ministry and share their wonderful gifts with the rest of the congregation. Please contact the particular choir leader for more information.

Altar Servers
Young girls and boys (Grade Three and above), who have celebrated their first communion and know the Mass responses, and know how to behave away from the gaze of watchful parents are welcome to serve at the altar.
